I am curious, also about the cultivars that don't show any symptoms. When
Van Wade said this I wonder if he meant some cultivars don't show symptoms or
do
some plants within a certain cultivar not show symptoms?
Hi Kay,
I don't think it is a particular cultivar that shows symptoms but I have
noticed that the thin substanced hostas tend to get bad real quick. Green Smash
is history here because it is cheap and not hard to replace and was totally
infected with nematodes. Last year Bright Lights had the most infection and I
don't see any on Bright Lights this year. Sea Prize and Galaxy have not shown
any symptoms and they are two of the more pricey hostas in the bed.
I am going to make my second application of Rose Care around all the hostas
in that bed, that is the systemic fungicide and pesticide. The application
will be made near the crown and watered in.
I just can't bring myself to spray with cygon as recommended.
BTW the little wren has hatched her eggs in the garage and the baby birds
appear to be fine. The parents are diligent about going in and out to feed them
and we just can't do a thing in the garage for creating a ruckus! They are so
sweet.
