Re: hostas nematodes and etc.

Hi Nancy and all
I was going to mention that I rented an acre of land to grow my hosta
seedlings and some other hostas in and the deer were always nipping them
off or pulling them out and the seedlings lay on top of the ground and
die before I got back the next time. I am painting my house this summer
and knocked off a bucket of paint which splashed over many of the hostas
I was planting out but not all. I planted out almost 50 spilt milk there
and the deer wiped out almost 80% but my daughter noticed they didn't
touch the ones with the paint spots on them. From now on I am going to
apply paint to the new plantings since after the first year the deer
don't seem to bother them, just when they are newly planted. Thought
maybe someone else could use this info.
Bye
Bob

Thanks, that clarifies a lot.
Since my garden seems to attract every destructive organism
possible (with the exception, so far, of deer), I look
forward to spotting this kind of damage at the end of next
month.
