Hello Kay,
You are doing a fine job growing on the G. dahurika... it is doing what
it is supposed to do... flop as the stems mature. I have mine along a ledge
with some rocks where the flop is just fine. Just think of it as a more
relaxed and casual plant.... quite a few of the summer gentians have that
habit. Seed?? Probably if you have more than one plant..... watch for the
papery capsules, test by giving a very light squeeze to see if anything if
forming inside. If yes, the once the pod has formed inside, peel the outside
papery part back so that worms do not reside and eat the seeds as they
mature. Collect when tan and dry, end of the pods cracked open a bit. Sow
fresh and set outside to ride with the local weather over winter.
What I would not give for a bunch more Tie Dye ..... sold out early and
could not get any more. Just found them again and hope to have them next
year. Longest blooming, most prolific primula I have ever had in the garden.
We had a few cool nights and it came back into bloom again last week. Don't
know how it produces so many blooms for so long and still does not expire
from energy loss.... wonder plant!
