The angustifolium is a perennial.
I'm not sure about starting seeds. I'd wait until late winter of next year and
start indoors. But maybe someone else knows THE answer. Since it is so hardy,
(Z 3-7) maybe you could sow the seeds in situ now????
For seeds, check out Wildflowers on the 'net--OR get someone in Michigan to
take some seeds off one of the plantings along the highway. Some of the
epilobiums are terribly invasive as they self sow like fireweed(<G>) but the
one you want is not invasive.
You have whetted my appetite--I'll try to find a source too!
