The plant I asked about is, again accdg to DG, a true gladiolus. They call
it Gladiolus nanus, and say it is hardy throughout the US. Grows 1-1/2 ft
tall, is NOT fragrant, and comes in a gorgeous red color with a white edge
called 'Atom', a kind of bluish magenta, a plain pink, and a white with
pink markings, plus they offer a collection of mixed colors. I know
nothing about it except that my friend brought me a stem of 'Atom' and I
love it. It doesn't particularly resemble the usual gladiolus.
I have grown Acidanthera and this is definitely not the same plant.
Bill, which one were you referring to?
