Over the years I have found that deer usually eat the more expensive hosta
first.... so this year I tried something new.
I planted a bunch of lancifolia and ventrocosta and some other big green
hosta - name unknown. Then I watered them, talked nice them....as if they
cost me a lot of money. I thought putting price tags on saying (to the
deer) $100 or priceless...
but the deer fell for my plot...they ate lancifolia! they ate ventricosta!
They even ate some of the green nameless wonder!
I'll bet they're back home telling their family friends...."Boy did we
straight at rich today! we found some really expensive hosta for lunch"
