Lily of the Valley do prefer shade. They're spring flowers are lovely and
welcome. However, this is an invasive plant. In addition, it's leaves turn
ratty as they mature. Once it gains a foothold, it spreads enthusiastically.
I have mine in an area that I don't mind being dominated by Lily.
