Re: Anyone collect heucheras?

Hello Diana,
Good timing. I just received and potted up some heuchera from a fellow nursery
person. Half dozen each of there named varieties. All are the mini's. Two have
silvery-green foliage and one has the purple. It is raining here and I have no
desire to go out and check the names at this time.
In the garden I have one of the pewters, one that blooms with the heucheras,
but has the foliage of a Foam Flower in super large size (name lost now), another
given to us called Raspberry Regal.
I have been tempted to carry a line of these in the nursery & catalog.... but
keep chickening out. Just too many out there with 3 breeders working on nothing
but these. Just a bit like another green leafed hosta.... my eyes are starting to
glaze over. Which one does one order in volume, feeling sure I have picked the one
everyone will want?
Same story with Pulmonaria... there are now a kizillion different ones out
there now as a result of tissue culture. Many are quite lovely indeed... and I
really like these for the early blooms and wonderful foliage almost all year.
But.... I am sitting on two named varieties in the nursery that are not selling
now.... 3 year old filled pots getting too big to ship.
market is being flooded, but the price wholesale is not reflecting the
abundance.
Anyone else care to jump in here?
