On the subject of garden tours, I share an idea that has worked very well
for my mother's art & garden clubs in Sakonnet, RI: an "Artists in the
Gardens" tour. At each site there is one or more artist painting the garden.
The artists showcase and sell their work, and the garden club raises money
to use for the public plantings it does. (The tours are self-guided, with a
map and box lunch provided in the morning.) It was so successful for both
organizations that 'd like to try the same thing in Riverdale, NY.
