Louise,
I've just given up on it for a while. The grass in the back yard is about 3
1/2 to 4 foot high -- our Saint Bernard goes back there and we lose sight of
him. <Chuckle> It's been so wet we can't even cut the grass back there.
We did manage to get the front yard cut the other day -- first time in about
a month. I have a dozen trees and 50 shrubs to plant, all of which have
been taken from the packaging and placed in pots (in the case of the shrubs,
like ten or fifteen per pot) so we at least do not lose the investment. 3
new rose plants are sitting out front waiting to be put in, as are two
lilacs, about a dozen varieties of dianthus (including 4 carnations as
well), and probably another 10 or so varieties of other annuals. All in
all, I'd say we have around $400 worth of plants just sitting outside
waiting and hoping.
Checking the forecast for our area, it reads rain through the entire 5 day
forecast although it looks like we might get a little sunshine this weekend
finally. Of course, it will take minimum 3 days of 75 degrees and sunny for
the back yard to dry out enough to cut. <Sigh>
