Marge, I think the ones you're describing
Found two very different plants this year - may have
planted them and forgotten; no tags - but they are white with
upfacing flowers; shorter plants. Need to figure out who they are.
Have you any idea? Flower form is the same as on the taller forms
with down facing flowers. Of course, they are growing smack dab in
the middle of a group of my usual plants, so they probably won't seed
true.
may be the white Japanese fan columbing, Aquilegia flabellata nana alba. I
grew these from seed from NARGS many years ago, transplanted them to the
present garden six years ago, and they are still going strong and are
lovely. They don't self-seed around a lot, but when they do, they come
true. They are in almost full sun in raised beds with gravel dressing (in
with alpines mostly).
