From Marge, this is really the only good advice for this question. You will
have to move plants that are damaged by sun or the opposite frail from too
much shade. MaryAnn McGourty in a perennial lecture one day mentioned that
some of her plants had been moved so often, they were entitled to frequent
flyer miles.
The McGourtys (also authors) own Hillside Gardens in CT and their perennial
display gardens are the best I have even seen. All plants have been moved
and moved to locate in the very best site for each species.
