lilies and companions?

I am not sure if lilies are supposed to be shade plants - but most of mine
grows in more or less partial shade so maybe I can ask here if someone
have something to share about lilies and companion plants?
This is only my second year with growing lilies - and I am in love with
them - can't understand why I did not dicover them earlier? At least here
by me most of them fill a an empty time regarding flowering in the garden.
But I think it might be a plus for them to have a lower plant to support
them not breaking down in wind and rain/watering? What do others of you do
here?
Yes, of course I have been thinking about some Hosta :) , but not agreed
with myself if or what colour etc. - maybe one easy variegated not to make
it too much messy when lilies are flowering? I have also thought about a
Gypsophila with white flowers - or a lower groundcover with greyish leaves
- maybe a Stachys? What about creeping evergreens?
Would be nice also if anyone have picture to share of lilies mixed with
others? That can be sent me private?
