Re: Mosses again - exchanging?

Harry,

I attended a moss lecture at my rock garden club unwillingly as I did not
know the day's program. In the Northeast we are oversupplied with mosses and
lichens so I would rather have fewer than more.

The woman who did the program was absolutely in love with mosses and went on
expeditions all over New England to collect and ID. While I am not overly
fond of that moss growing on anything that sits still, she was an expert
presenter and I did enjoy the afternoon.

She had troughs filled with mosses like a patchwork quilt. Each moss had a
small label giving it's name (who in the world of gardeners knows the names
of mosses). She had one of those artist easel type things with the names and
explanations of each moss. She had a selection of stones carrying lichens.
Those troughs were very attractive.

I will look back in the newsletters and try to find her name and what month
she did that presentation. I do remember that she said she kept the stones
for lectures, they were not too large but did require some help to set her up
in the hall.

Your early spring show would find us still frozen stiff up here so your
method of holding the mosses green would have to be different.
