Hello, can anyone help me with an Insect ID? I just noticed that one of
our 3 Heliopsis plants has an army of perfectly spaced, tiny (pinpoint
size) bright red insects arrayed along the upper stems. Periodically they
all do a sort of "chorus line" maneuver and rearrange themselves but stay
in the exact same spot. Each is about 1/8" from the next. They are just
specks, viewed with the naked eye. Can anyone tell me from the description
and the plant what these could be? Red spider mites come to mind but I
don't think those are so well organized.
This Heliopsis is in the shade. I have two others that are in sun that
have no insects that I am aware of.
