Hi again Adrienne!

I think we got a bit sidetracked, so to speak. You have gotten some good
suggestions for plants that will do well in deep shade--but you asked about
"dry" shade. There are so few plants that do well in that condition I would
recommend that rather than spending money on plants, that you change the
environment of that area---it would save you money. Limb up the canopy to get
more light in. Amend the soil with something like Pro-Mix.

In the long run, you will have a garden area where you can grow many diverse
plants. And BTW hostas do NOT do well in dry shade.

In my experience the only plants that do well in dry shade are what most
gardeners would call "weeds." As Bobbi pointed out, the asarums would do
well;but, if you are in a zone where you cannot grow those marvelous
variegated ones it would be a somewhat boring look. Lysimachia nummularia
aurea would grow(poorly) but it would not be gold after a while.

In summary, spend your money on changing the environment---dont buy plants for
that area until you have done so. Gardening=Us v. Nature.

Good luck!
