Bob, thanks for the info on martagon lilies. I saw some last weekend and
didn't notice any unpleasant smell, so that is interesting.
Re Japanese Painted Fern, no, they are quite easy to grow. I just plant
'em and forget 'em. They just settle in. Interestingly, they are quite
individual as to their habits--all look a bit different in terms of shape,
size, growth habit and coloring (I bought them at different times from
different nurseries).
