Re: [SG] painted fern, Cotula purpasilla

I find that their character does change with conditions and different
fertilizers, however I have had different clones next to each other and they
retain their character. Any batch of spore will produce different forms.
What is frequently done with sporlings as well as seedlings is that when
they are transplanted, they are transplanted in clumps, since they survive
better and there is always too many anyway. Then when you divide the clumps
you may be merely separating the plants. Even if they are abused, like I
have done because I had more plants than places, they come back every year.
Low nitrogen fertilizer enhances the color.
Lepidella (Cotula) purpasilla has some of the same coloration's of the
Japanese painted fern. Easily grown, hardy in zone 5 (sort of) until a cold
winter hits. This winter I had five varieties come through winter.
