I guess this blows my idea of getting my mom started on  growing hostas in Southern California, guess she will have to stick to palm trees.

Maybe this is why I lost 2 hostas very close to my house this winter.  Could it have been too warm there?  Coupled with the fact that we had a warm winter this year?
