I don't have this plant, but I have noticed that everyone around here who
does has it in a foundation planting, in a sheltered location. You can
just about gain a zone that way. I've never seen one get more than a few
feet tall, although the white hydrangeas get quite large.
Re: Variegated Lobelias - a plant with variegated foliage that is supposed
to be all-green sometimes is being 'striped' by virus. What does the
variegation look like (color, form, etc.)? I have only been able to grow
Lobelia cardinalis in soil that is constantly moist, away from other
plants, and in shade during the hottest part of the day. It still dies
after three years.
Does anyone remember that candy 'lipstick' that was a popular treat 30-40
years ago? I'm talking about the one that was about 1/2" thick, maybe
larger. If you do, feature that color (impossible to describe) on
Rhododendron blossoms. What variety is it? I saw it for the first time
this year while out on a drive, and now I can't remember where it was.
