If the first is possibly Purple Trillium (Trillium erectum); the should
smell badly but you have to get close to detect it. The second probably is
Toadshade AKA Red Trillium (Trillium sessile), and the third could also be
Toadshade or possibly Trillium cuneatum (this would not be native to your
area, though it is hardy there under the right conditions). >
Thanks Sheila, I will try to find info on these 3 trilliums you mentioned.
I borrowed a friend's copy of Fred Case's book on trilliums last year and was
amazed at all the different ones. Do you know WHEN is the best time to
divide them? and the yellow lady slippers? I suppose I should wait till
fall, but I'm so impatient!
