registration of names was Re: Pulmonarias

On one point, I beg to differ. ALL cultivars should be registered before
introduction, and there is a Registrar responsible for every genus. If it's
good enough to sell, it's good enough to officially name! This is done
through the appropriate International Registration Authorities. Yes, no
registrar specific to Pulmonarias is appointed, so that for "Hardy
herbaceous perennials" should be used:

Internationale Stauden Union (ISU), Attn: Dr Josef Sieber, Institut für
Stauden und Gehölze, Versuchanstalt für Gartenbau Weihenstephan, Murstrasse
22, D–85356 Freising, Germany. {Fax: (49) 816 18 36 16}

A complete list of IRAs is located at: http://www.ishs.org/sci/iradirec.htm

I am currently trying to clear up a lot of confusion in Hibiscus syriacus
names because this was not done. Over 300 names (including synonyms) have
been used in the trade for cultivars of H. syriacus.. only 6 have been
registered! You can find my list at:
