Jan--I also have some variegated euonymus climbing up a tree. It has taken
mine about 4 years to climb about 8-10 feet. If you want to reduce it, try
cutting off the vines until you are satisfied. Using a pruning tool should
work fine. The vines above the cut will die and will probably come off of
their own accord in time.
