As Paul states, you should probably know the species you are trying to
germinate to use the correct method.  Following is an excellent germination
database:

The are other databases online with germination information for specific
genera or species.  I grew some primula once and researched the easiest one
to try.  That would be p. denticulata which is very easy.  Some of the others
can be fussy.

New England Flower Show (Boston) next week, is anyone here going?
