Jennifer: maybe you don't want to plant one of EACH that was mentioned,
but it certainly would do no harm to plant, say, 3 different kinds--or
even 6. The advantage is that you don't end up with a vulnerable
monoculture, and besides it gives a more interesting effect. Also, it's
fun to watch these thugs all fighting to come out on top.

I have one area where vinca fights with euonymus, another where ivy and
pachysandra fight with euonymus, and a third where Lamiastrum fights with
euonymus. Much more interesting than just plain old euonymus.
