Re: Hosta College????
Hello Louise,
Yep.... you blew it this year. There are quite a few on this list who have
attended the Hosta College and can chime in here with more details. I am a poor
and slow typist so my messages are usually pretty short. It is held in Piqua, Ohio
each March. There is a high school that turns the facilities over to the Great
Lakes regional Hosta Society for the weekend. That is the reason for the number
500.... all that the facilities can hold ... and we do not want to move or get
much larger. All is a volunteer to-do. All is by reservation and members of the
Great Lakes chapters get first in line..... also cheaper registration.
All day Saturday is class after class on everything from Hosta (and everything
under the sun concerning hosta) and many other garden related topics. My partner
is signed up for classes on building your own troughs, grasses, shrubs. I will be
teaching an hour on raised beds and another hour on late winter-early spring
bloomers in the raised bed. It really is something to attend.
there is also free breakfast, free break goodies and drinks, lunch. The dinner
on Saturday evening is by reservation only and always enjoyable. ($12)
I received my listing of how many students I will have, so my guess is the
registrations are closed for this year. Be sure and put it on your list for next
year. Also join the Great Lakes chapter of the Hosta Society and they will notify
you when it is time to register.
Come on gang... tell them some more.
