The light is not the problem but the moisture, in full sun the soil should be
moisture retentive, if the soil becomes dry the plants will go dormant early.
 It does keep its color in shade but does not grow so fast.  A 50/50 dappled
shade for most of the day would be just perfect-can not wait to see what they
look like when they become full sized.  I have had plants in the past that
have had gold speceled/streaked leaves-problem is that only parts of the
branches would be speckled.
