Now I know why I am so honoured to have wrens on the French property. With all
the stone walls I get too many slugs and snails. Some of the slugs are
revolting large rust coloured things and I do all I can to get rid of them,
maybe I'll rethink a bit.
The wren is a little charmer. He builds the family home in a small hole in the
stone wall inside the garage. There is a suitable aperture for them to come
and go. One year I went in to find the place full of tiny birds, obviously
they were leaving the nest for the first flight. I stood still and they all
found their way out via the door, I was worried they would hurl themseves
against the windows. Does anyone know if they return to the same nest each
year?
