Barb,
Leaf spots are generally fungal, not insect produced -- some are bacterial,
some viral, so hort. oil wouldn't help. Best idea would be to take a
sample leaf with spot to your local county extension agent to see if the
particular pathogen can be identified so you would know exactly what you
were trying to treat.
