Hi, Carmel--
I don't know if this will be helpful, because I am in zone 8/9 in SW
Louisiana!
Right now, in my shady back yard, I have blooming: pansies, pentas,
Blue Star (amsonia) almost blooming, walking iris in full bud, Star Anise
blooming, azaleas, copper iris, Virginia Sweetspire ready to bloom, lilies
of the valley, daffodils. I have other color with a yellow/green striped
large ginger (the name of which I cannot remember right now!), and a variety
of ferns in different shades of green (wood fern, southern shield fern, log
fern, leather leaf fern, Japanese painted fern, among others).
