Sheila, it probably is the vinca smothering the hosta, I would think, too.
I'll certainly keep my hostas out of it, thanks!

BTW, many, many hosta pips are showing up here in central Oklahoma now!
This is getting exciting! Don't you just breathe a sigh of relief when
spring finally arrives? :-)) But April 15 is our average "last frost" date,
so it will be interesting to see if this year brings a later-than-usual
freeze, or none in April, due to el meano. <G>
