Hi, Diane. When I divide a hosta that is not really large enough to divide
(sometimes you have to, to get in on a really good trade!), I give them a
little boost in the rockwool. I have a small hydroponic 'box', and it is a
nice set-up to help broken plants heal and put on healthy root and foliage
growth. I've never left a hosta in any longer than it takes to prove its
health, so I don't know how they'd do if they were kept 'hydroponic'. I
imagine that hostas would be perfect for it, because of their tolerance of
moisture and high transpiration rate.
