Charles, I don't believe propagation is possible with the daylily "stalk".
Divisions of the crown, or harvesting the proliferations from the scape,
are the common methods of propagation.
Are you perhaps referring to the method of applying BAP (chemical) mixture
to cuts on the crown to promote reproduction? Maybe someone else on this
list can explain this to you. I have not had experience with this.
I have not seen hummingbirds attending the daylily blossom....has anyone else?
Stella De Oro blooms early and repeats "forever", I understand. I don't
grow either Stella or BES, but I should think in your zone that scapes
should be appearing very soon.
I've read recently that a boric acid solution is effective when applied to
ant mounds and runs. Don't remember the details...anyone else know about
this?
