I went to a Home and Garden Show yesterday and came home with a pretty
little friend called a Betula Nigra "Little King." This little River
Birch is apparently a dwarf variety that is supposed to reach 8-10'
when fully grown. It is 3 years old right now, and very pretty. It's
about 4 feet tall, clumped and already has extensive peeling bark. I
got a great deal on it I couldn't pass up, but now I am examining my
yard (front and back) to find an appropriate place to put it. The
nursery told me that it needs at least a half day's dappled sun, which
I can provide, though, like many of us, it's at a premium. I've
wanted a River Birch forever, but couldn't afford the space or loss of
what sun I do get, so this dwarf variety meets a multitude of needs.
However, I can find no information on the "Little King" River Birch.
Does anyone have any information or a recommendation about where to
obtain it?
Thanks,
