Please DON"T get a cat and set it free if you're in a city.  Not all
neighbors like cats hunting in their gardens.  Personally I've started
trapping strays and turning them over to no kill shelters.  My indoor
only tom knocked himself cold 'defending' his territory against one
of my neighbors cats as he hit the plate glass window.

There's also the issue of the strays hunting under my bird feeder.  I
had one kill four goldfinches in one day :(
