Re: [SG] critters

Good morning, Bob,

One of my particular interests is the use of language in propraganda. Couldn't
Discovery just as readily have done a show on the value of cats in "decimating"
the population of undesirable rodents? Did they specify the "wildlife" being
decimated by cats? I have never seen one of my cats kill a bird -- however, I
know they will do that. As Clyde said, it is their nature, which is what makes
then desirable in the case of rodents. What was the point of the show? Should
we do away with cats? Or should we just tear out their claws and keep them
imprisoned. There will always be cats and cats will prowl. Again I ask, what
was the point of that show?

I don't think the Discovery show was intended to bad-mouth cats. They are part
of the ecosystem and without them we would probably be overrun with rodents.
Besides, they are cute. And I hope your daughter didn't see that show.
