Are these Azaleas under any trees? I have seen this happen when little green
worms come down from the trees on a thread and defoliate an azalea. Usually
it happens a bit later in the season. I am serious about the worms. They can
ruin a plant quickly. I do not know their name, but have seen them often.
They seem to love azaleas.
