Gerry, could easily be that your fall mulch is covering your plant
seeds and preventing germination.  Esp. of any that fall early.
Mulch won't prevent seeds that fall *on* it from germinating and some
seeds who are really strong will come up through it, but it will
prevent a lot of seeds from germinating...esp. any that require
light.

Re: sites with seedling pix.  I was intrigued - definitely something
that's needed on the web for reference -  and have spent some time
searching and can't find a one.  You get the odd image here and
there, but nothing concentrated.

Next best thing is pix of weed seedlings so you can recognize what
you ought to pull...and I have a couple sites bookmarked that have
