Re: pinellea pedastisecta
Hello Hank,
I see where you have already received quite a bit of advice on Pinellia and
the comparison to Jack in the Pulpit. There are some differences to note, not in
culture, but in how the plants themselves perform.
Jack only blooms and sets seed once each season. pinellia will begin the
season with a bloom, then foliage. It will continue to bloom and grow offsets each
season until a hard frost. that means they will form colonies. Do give them some
room in the garden. I have had mine for over 10 years and they have formed stands
around 4 feet in diameter.
I have mine with Arum italicum, ferns and Thalictrum, bordered with primula,
mertensia, uvularia and false rue anemone.
Since you are in zone 4, I would give the Pinellia a bit more mulch than I do
around here and possibly a bit more light.

Subject: [SG] pinellea pedastisecta
I received what I believe is a pinellia pedastisecta as a gift. I have run the
name through a number of search engines and gone through reference books but I
can't find much information on how to grow it. Any help would be appreciated.
