Collecting seed in the wild or in parks is no problem. They can be sent by air
mail if necessary. Rhododendron seeds are available from the American
Rhododendron Society on annual basis, they have a list of available seed on line
on their site. The Rhododendron Species Foundation (5 miles from my home) also
sells seeds, $5/packet. If you don't know what you are doing there may be
little to be gained from this collection process. It would still be fun to
try. Good luck to them. Tell them to keep their noses clean.

Really interesting seed can usually be found in this way but what difference
does that make.

If you want help getting seed from the above sources I would be glad to assist.
