I'll write more later but my favorite companion plants (at the moment---I may
change my opinion tomorrow{:>) ) are the grasses and carexes. Also the
luzulas.
For underplanting a Cornus kousa, I would rec H. sieboldiana 'Elegans'. As Bob
Axmear mention the great sage family are great companions.
Gary Trucks has got me hooked on grasses. So, I hope he will tell us about how
he uses them in the landscape.
