Hi All;
Most of these came to the entire list anyway, but I've compiled all the
ones I've received.I hope those of you who didn't get a chance to respond
yet will still send your suggestions in as I have been reading them with
much interest.
Thank you.

"I grew one of the perennial salvias in front of taller light pastel
pink impatiens that looked super. I grew them in a long bed that wrepped
around two sides of the house. Alot of people commented on how they
blended together. I don't have a catalog handy to give the type of
salvia but it is one of the newer hybrids they have just started selling
in the last few years."

"Hard to cull down!
Blue flax with 'Moonshine' (yellow) yarrow
bloom nonstop together all summer.
'Purple Dome' asters with 'Golden Baby'
goldenrod are pretty nonstop fall color.
'Six Hills Giant' catmint with 'Moonshine'
(yellow) yarrow"

"Hi Carmel,
My favorite companions are hostas with colorful calla lilies and balloon
flowers.
Great idea for a poll! Thanks.

"For underplanting variegated hostas have you thought about
European Ginger (Asarum europaeum) ? It only gets 4-6" high and
spreads about 12" in 2-3 years. It is hardy to zone4. It looks lovely with
hostas."

"Hi; tassel ferns are great with the large-leaved hostas, as is artillery
fern with medium-sized leaves. I also like Hosta Gold Sceptor with H.
Gloriosa. If you can find the Wizard series of Coleus anywhere, the
pink-centered greens and the red look nice with hot-pink impatiens.
Myosotis sylvatica makes a great underplanting for many plants, esp.
variegates."

"Hi Carmel,
My favorite combo right now, I think would be the Zorro Pansies ("Black"-
More
of a very dark purple) and Wild Thing Impatiens( Hot pink/magenta)
I also like H.sieboldiana 'Elegans' with the Salvia 'Strata' (blue &
white) I
think Clyde might have mentioned these already.
and one more...
I just planted a hanging basket today of Lobelia 'Sapphire' w/a White
Salvia,
(forgot name)."

"Hi,
I think you'll like this one and I just ame up with it today!!! I just
finished a container with :
Some SIZZLE salvia in the back ( it's new-- the flowers are a salmon
color with a lighter pink inset ---very different--
Several coral impatient plants in front of those----
Fill in the front of the container with a semicircle of pink- hypoestes.
a pink spotted foliage plant.
We'll see how it goes.. Life is full of surprises!!!
My all time favorite is and probably will be bearded iris and daylilies.
they complement
each other well and tolerate the same soil types. Mine are
flourishing....
Kathy"
