After realizing I know very little about Ferns, I decided I needed to
read up on them. And with the rain we have had and a lot of my
containers done, I have had time to do.
I'm not sure what Zone you are in. If you'd like to reply back and let
me know, and how small your are thinking. I'll be happy to look some up
for you.
And thanks for the info you gave me on daylilies and the ferns I had
planted.

Hi Deb,
I don't know what zone I am in - we don't have zones in England. We live
in the south of the country, so we're warmer than the north - less snow,
generally better weather, etc.
(I posted yesterday asking for information about zones, as most of the
messages on the list refer to zones).
The future fern bed is about 8ft x 8ft overall, and the soil is neutral
at present - unless I add something to the soil. I guess I'm looking for
a variety of sizes, but nothing so large that it dominates the bed.
I've had lots of responses from others on the mailing list so my short
list of ferns for the bed is coming on nicely.
I'm go to college one day a week - learning about garden design. Next
week one of the topics is ferns - so hopefully, I'll know a little more
about it myself.
Elaine.
