Re: [SG] A Plant Search

Jamie,
A plant for the shade with bold leaves but unfortunately is diciduous is
Kirengeshoma palmata. Nice yellow bell shaped flowers in the summer. Grow
about 36 inches tall in my garden under the edge of a 60 ft pine tree. I do
not believe the sun shimes on it for any lenght of time . Dappled at best.
Another selection for varigated shiny leaves in the shade is Aucuba japonica.
Grows about 3-5 feet here in northern NJ if given some protection from the
wind. Will put out new leaves if too much winter damage occurs, simular to
Euonymus kiautshovicus
(Manhatten Euonymus). for a shiny leaf some of the Ilex may make it for you
but usually they are too small and may not be bold enough. If you wnat call
and visit my garden we are only about 45 minutes away at most. If interested
e-mail me personally @ EJSchulz@aol.com
