With all due respect to Rosemary, the soil you grow it in may also have
something to do with how well it does. I grow Sedum Autumn Joy in about
3/4 shade and it does very well, blooms beautifully, stays compact, never
gets leggy--but the soil (a former driveway) is almost solid gravel with a
little dirt mixed in. Certain plants love these scree conditions; others
don't. You win some, you lose some.
