Sheila, at my nursery, we dig Siberian Irises when the new fans are just
1"-2" tall and pot them. Quite often they bloom in the pot. I grow most of
the Siberians in full sun and some in part shade. I see no difference in
blooming in either type of location. It might be more a matter of the
timing of division. I know the irisarians think Siberians should be
divided in mid to late summer, but I have much better success when they are
just emerging in the spring.
