Sandy--In your area, it may be too late to effectively divide the Siberians
if they are more than a few inches tall, and I do not think fall division
would work well in your area, with its harsh winters. I would suggest
waiting until next year and doing the job when the new shoots are an inch
or so tall.
You could try it now, but if you do, be sure that you keep them well
watered all summer. Each division should consist of 3-5 leaf fans.
Replant the divisions a little deeper than they were growing, and mulch
well. Siberians like a slightly acid, rich, organic soil and respond well
to mulching and extra water.
