Anemone x hybrida and acidic soil?

Does anybody know if Anemone xhybrida is allergic to acidic soil?
A few weeks ago, I planted some Anemone xhybrida 'Honorine Jobert' in an
area with lots of ferns where the soil is somewhat acidic. I noticed
recently that the leaves (from bottom up) are getting a very pretty but
completely wierd mottling. I've got lots of other plants of the same species
in other parts of the garden where the soil is alkaline and have never seen
this problem before.
