I have a few bergenias, and they look terrible, though the one that blooms
was especially floriferous. Our winter was mild until January, when we
had a hideous, disabling blizzard and prolongued sub-zero temperatures.
High wind speeds (that went on for weeks on end) and extrememly dry air
combined and dessicated-to-death several vulnerable evergreens (Azaleas,
bamboo, rhododendrons).
