I have 2 monardas, the pink Marshall's Delight (because it's suppose to be
mildew resistant). The other is a dark bluish red that a friend gave me last
spring. Well, this spring, the Marshall's is up about a foot and the other
not as far. But the BIGGEST difference I notice between them is in how they
are spreading. Marshall's has spread from one plant to an area about 30" x
24" over 3 years, but a very compact clump within that area. The red monarda
has spread to a bigger area (in only a year), but it's coming up far
apart..big gaps in the "clump". The red one gets just direct sun in the
morning, then dappled the rest of the day. The pink gets direct sun for
maybe 4 hours during midday??? That's probably part of the reason, huh?
